Clematis tangutica

Labeled as a thug plant, and indeed it is a vigorous grower.  I still think it is beautiful.  Maybe it's just because the flower is yellow, one of my favorite colours.  This is a great clematis to cover up something, quickly.

The seed heads provide great winter interest.

Codonopsis clematidea

I started this particular plant in 2005 from seed.  It grew fine and probably would have bloomed in 2008 but then I dug it up and moved it to Red Deer.  Finally, 2011, it has bloomed.  I thought for sure that it was a goner when a large dog got into the yard and proceeded to scratch it out of the ground.  It survived and went into full bloom.

Very pretty and worth the wait.  Appears to be quite hardy in Zone 3, although I've read differently.
