Dryas drummondii
Yellow Mountain Avens
This is more a trailing shrub that forms dense mats. It is a sight to see when there are fields of it growing. Showtime is when dryas is 'in seed'. Is that how one would describe it? Mile after mile of fluffy seed heads.
Be patient when starting, germination is normally slow.
Available in larger quantities, but pre-order by June is required.

Dryas octopetala
Limited Seed
White Mountain avens, White Dryad
Much smaller than Dryas drummondii, on the shrubs that I've found. In our harsher climate it probably has to. I've found this by Abraham Lake, AB and it forms dense mats in crevices on bare rock. The flowering stems are maybe a cm, the blooms covering the dark green mat in the spring. Grown in my garden the flowering stems are under 10 cm.
