This plant has some variegation traits in it.  I have not isolated the seed from it, odds are good you'll get some variegation.  Blooms until frost.  The persisting seed heads are liked by the chickadees.

Iris Sibirica

At its prime in the Okotoks garden, this iris reached 5' tall and had over 100 blooms.

We were not able to move it entirely, it was just too big.  But we did bring along a good chunk of it which has settled in well.

Malva moschata

Musk Mallow

This is a vigorous plant, and tough too.   Survives my Zone 2b winters for the most part, can be a short lived perenial here.  It does self seed.

Bees love it, and so do deer, (and cows, horses, sheep).  Foliage, flowers & seeds are edible.  I like adding the foliage and newly opened flowers to a summer salad. 

There is a long list of medicinal benefits as well.  Can also be used as a dye plant.

Creeping Phlox
