Agastache foeniculum

Wild collected in the Red Deer area.  This is one of those plants that you should place along a path so that one can brush by it, releasing that incredible anise scent.  I think it's wonderful.  Can be used in tea, although I've yet to try it, I of course grow it for the seed.  Bees also love this plant.

Andromeda polifolia

Bog Rosemary

What a pretty little thing!  I'll add this warning though, the leaves and stems contain a toxin that will lower blood pressure and cause shortness of breath.  This toxin has been reported to be fatal to livestock, especially sheep.

With that in mind, I would still grow it.

What a wonderful little thing and it is incredibly hardy.  It is mat forming and when in full bloom, a mass of tiny white blooms.  The largest mat of Androsace I've seen to date, at about a square foot, is also in one of the harshest spots that I visit.

Anticlea elegans (syn. Zigadenus elegans)

If I could only have one of the Alberta wildflowers....  I would lose my mind, pick just one? But this is a favourite and I do love to see them in the ditches in central Alberta.  Up highway 761 are some huge clumps of them that have obviously been growing there for many years.  They are so beautiful.

They have recently been moved to the Melanthiaceae family.

Very easy to grow in the home garden.
